Northern Patagonia has two wine regions centered around the river valleys of the Rio Negro and the Rio Neuquén. During our Américas trip were fortunate to sample wines from Neuquén Province. Neuquén Province is known for Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonay. While in the region we also tried to visit Bodega del Fin del Mundo but due to poor timing of our visit we did not. We were fortunate however, to be able to visit its Buenos Aires bodega later.
Familia Schroeder Viña
On our way back to the Lake Region around Lago Nahuel Huapi, we stopped for wine tasting at
Familia Schroeder Viña near Neuquén. It has a very beautiful and modern bodega with an elegant and panoramic restaurant, Saurus Restaurant. While we did not dine at the restaurant it did look to be very inviting. The winery was built on top of a Mesosoic Paleontological area, hence the lable name Saurus. We tried three of the reds. They were all quite good. We especially liked the Pinot Noir for its bouquet of annis and taste of chocolate.

Bodega Del Fin Del Mundo, Buenos Aires
We did not visit
Fin Del Mundo in Neuquén but was able to visit its Bodega and restaurant at its Buenos Aires location in Palermo Hollywood. We enjoyed our visit.
