Tablas Creek Vineyard, Paso Robles

Spaswinefood recently visited wineries in the Paso Robles area.  Paso Robles American Viticulture Area (AVA), San Luis Obispo County is California's third largest and fastest growing wine region. Given there are over 180+ wineries in this appellation area, Spaswinefood's plan was to check out Paso Robles's greener wineries. Tablas Creek Vineyard 9339 Adelaida Road is one of the wineries we selected to visit. We selected Tablas Creek Vineyard for the following two reasons: (1) it is Certified Organic and (2) it produces great wines.

Tablas Creek's  organic vineyard wine production is centered around its 120 acre estate vineyard. Tablas Creek Vineyard has a unique history and partnership. The winery has a wine making model, which uses select Rhône varietals for producing wine. You can take a tour of the winery to learn more about Tablas Creek's wine production. When we visited Tablas Creek we tasted their 2009 Grenache Blanc, 2009  Roussanne, 2009 Espirit de Beaucastel Blanc, 2010 Rosé, 2009 Côtes de Tablas, 2008 Espirit de Beaucastel, 2010 Vermentino and 2007 and 2008 Syrah. I like their wines, especially the Syrahs I tasted. Tablas Creek wines gets great reviews by wine critics. Robert Parker's Food and Wine article (October 2007) noted "In fact, there has been a succession of very strong vintages for the winery in the past six years, starting in 2000." According to Vine Crowd the August 2010 Wine Advocate announced that Robert Parker had awarded 90 points or higher to 17 of Tablas Creek wines. Tablas Creek wine ratings are available on Snooth. You should check Tablas Creek's noteworthy press.  Winery visitors have also commented on Tripadvisor and Yelp.

Tablas Creek Vineyard is part of "The Far Out Wineries" of Paso Robles. These wineries collectively describe themselves as "Off the Beaten Path and Worth the Drive . . .". While there is no restaurant near there is a nice picnic area at the winery.
