Kenneth Volk wines are amazing

During Spaswinefood's June visit to Paso Robles I just had to check out Kenneth Volk's wines at his Paso Robles tasting room. I was prompted to do so because of an earlier visit to Santa Barbara Wine Country where I discovered his Santa Maria winery and vineyard on the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail. What is so fascinating about Spaswinefood adventures is that there are some great discoveries along the way. These discoveries include getting to know some of the best California wine makers through their wines. Kenneth Volk is one of those great discoveries.

Below is part of an earlier Spaswinefood article about wineries on the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail, Santa Barbara Wine Country:

Kenneth Folk Vineyards
Kenneth Volk has been making wines for over a quarter century in Santa Barbara County and the Central Coast. He is well known as the former owner of Wild Horse Winery, which he sold in 2003. He then purchased vineyards in Santa Barbara County now known as Kenneth Volk Vineyards located at 5230 Tepusquet Road. He now produces wines under the Kenneth Volk label from both the Santa Barbara Vineyards and Central Coast vineyards.

Now to continue with Paso Robles:

Paso Robles Tasting Room
Kenneth Volk's Paso Robles Tasting Room is located at 2485 Highway 46 West, Paso Robles. Volk's tasting room is in the same building as Lone Madrone Tasting Room, which you should also check out while visiting. During my June visit I dropped by to taste some of Kenneth Volk's wines.

While visiting the tasting room I tried 2011 Malvasia Bianca, San Bernabe Vineyard, 2011 Jaybird Chardonnay (Gold and Best of Class, California Mid-State Fair), 2008 Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Cuvee (Double Gold LA International Wine & Spirits Competition), 2008 Touriga, Pomar Junction (Gold and Best of Class, California Mid-State Fair) and 2008 Cabernet Pfeffer, San Benito County (Gold Medal, California Mid-State Fair). All these wines were quite good. Below are my two favorites:

The wines are not only good but the prices are quite reasonable for the quality.

Central Coast FoodieHootNAnnie, Paso Robles Sommelier have written articles on Kenneth Volk's Paso Robles tasting room. Also Terroiriste has listed Kenneth Volk wines amongst her favorites. When I chatted with a number of wine room servers, at other Paso Robles wineries they often concurred. One young woman said "Kenneth Volk wines are amazing". Based on my recent tastings of Kenneth Volk wines I must confess that I am also amazed by these wines. You can also check out reviews at Snooth and  Yelp.
