During my Spaswinefood travels to El Paso de Robles, California in June I visited Peachy Canyon Winery. Peachy Canyon Winery is a small family owned winery. The winery was founded by the Beckett Family in 1988. Peachy Canyon Winery is high on my list because it is one of Paso Robles greener wineries. The winery uses sustainable agriculture practices that meet requirements to be Sustainability in Practice Certified (SIP Certified).

Peachy Canyon's historic Old School House tasting room is located at 1480 N. Bethel Road, Templeton. The winery's vineyards include Snow Vineyard, Old School House Vineyard, Mustang Springs Ranch and Mustard Creek Vineyard. During our visit to the Old School House I took the following photos:

The varietals produced by Peachy Canyon Winery include reds (Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel Port, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Sirah), whites (Chardonnay and Viognier) and blends.

Amongst the wines I tasted my favorites were the Peachy Canyon Savior 2011 (a Zinfandel) and Sin Nombre 2010 (33% Caladoc, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Malbec and 7% Merlot) and a Zinfandel Port.

After wine tasting it was lunch time; so we had lunch in the picnic area. I selected the Peachy Canyon Viognier 2010 to go with our picnic lunch.

Peachy Canyon Winery SIP Certified vineyards are located in Paso Robles American Viticulture Area (AVA), California's third largest and fastest growing wine region. Given there are over 200 wineries in this appellation, it is important to note that Peachy Canyon Winery is one of the SIP Certified wineries in the AVA (see lastest update on SIP wineries). I like the wine, but was not able to taste at the time we were at Peachy Canyon.
