If you like dining with amazing views then El Mirador Restaurant at La Reunión Golf Resort and Hotel is a unique experience. La Reunión Golf Resort and Hotel is less than 30 minutes drive from Antigua, Guatemala. Condé Naste Johansens recommends La Reunión Golf Resort and Hotel. It also gets amazing reviews on Tripadvisor. A week ago Spaswinefood visited El Mirador Restaurant with friends for lunch. We chose a patio view overlooking the golf course. I was told that it has a view to the ocean on a clear day. It is without doubt that the dining view from the patio is stunning.

We were seated at a table for four. The views from anywhere on the patio are spectacular. Since we were dining mid-week we almost had the whole patio area to ourselves.

We ordered a bottle of wine. We decided on a bottle of sparkling wine for lunch. It was an Argentine Chandon Extra Brut.

For lunch our entrées were one Salmon, two Sea Bass (Róbalo) and one Pasta.

For desert we choose two desert samplers to share.

You can easily see from the photos the food presentation was excellent. Three of our entrées however, were disappointing. Here is why three of us were disappointed with our entrées. The Sea Bass was cold at the center, like maybe it was previously frozen. Unfortunately, both of our friends ordered the Sea Bass. My pasta tasted rubbery, like it might have been over microwaved to heat it up. The Salmon however, was fine. The dessert sampler while not excellent was also fine. In such a beautiful setting at a luxury resort we expected better food. Maybe, it was an off day. Apparently their breakfast buffet on Sundays has been described as excellent.
Some reviewers have described the table service as slow. The pace of the service was just fine for us. We had come to relax and take in the views over lunch. We did not visit the Wayeb Bar but did have a bottle of wine with lunch. They appeared to offer a reasonable selection of wines, covering a fair price range for a luxury hotel. Vinoteca supplies the wines at La Reunión Golf Resort and Hotel. It is nice to see a hotel partner with someone knowledgeable in the wine industry.
You should also check reviews of El Mirador Restaurant, La Reunión Golf Resort and Hotel by Oyster. Marina K. Villatorro's article describes her visit to this luxury hotel and restaurant. I look forward to writing more about my wine and food experiences in Guatemala at Spaswinefood, or you can visit my travel column at the Examiner.
