Whenever Spaswinefood is in Las Vegas I love to search of the best place for dinner. Las Vegas is an amazing city that offers many fabulous dining opportunities, both on or off The Strip . Las Vegas continues to draw visitors from around the world. While most come to try their luck at the tables, some visitors come to Las Vegas just to dine. Why not, after all Las Vegas offers some of the best dining in the U.S. To sort out the best Las Vegas dining spots can be a challenge. In fact, there are a number of books written on this very topic. Fortunately for those preferring to take advantage of the social media age there are a few great online sources.

Recently while in Las Vegas we dropped by Roy's Las Vegas for dinner. Let me first share a few tips on how I found this fabulous Las Vegas dining spot.
Tips for finding the best dining spot
What I have discovered is that there are a few general patterns in Las Vegas online dining information. The most useful dining information is contained in two types of lists. The two types are (1) lists provided by culinary experts and (2) lists compiled based on diners rankings. Here is a brief overview of the lists that I found helpful to decide on where to dine in Las Vegas. Hopefully, it will help you find the best place for your dining needs.
1. Culinary experts lists
Here are the culinary expert lists that I used:
Epicurious lists the top five Las Vegas restaurant picks in the categories of high end, budget, local favorites and hot spots.
Gayot is a comprehensive online dining resource. Included in the resource is the professional review and diners views as well.
New York Post article lists the top 10 tables on the strip.
Travel and Leisure describes its top Las Vegas picks.
USA Today lists the top 10 Las Vegas restaurants.
2. Diners lists
In the case of the diners list there are the common ones you see. Then there are a few unique to Las Vegas. Here are the lists that I consulted:
Las Vegas Restaurants maintains a list where diners have been rating Las Vegas restaurants since 2005. Here you will find the top 10 according to the following criteria: Overall dining experience, best service, best food, best ambiance, best wine list and best value for money.
Tripadvisor needs little introduction because everyone has used it to find out what others have said about hotels, restaurants and so on. On Tripadvisor's restaurant list diners have rated the restaurants.
OpenTable provides restaurant reviews based on diners opinions, plus it is also a restaurant reservation service.
Urbanspoon post a list of restaurants with ranking by diners
Yelp also post a list of restaurants with ranking by diners

Improving your odds of having a great dining experience
Now that you have some online sources to check out you can improve your odds of finding that perfect dining experience. First, there are certain factors you must consider. While figuring out how much you want to spend will influence you choice there are other factors. Other factors like type of cuisine, location (on or off The Strip), etc. I also found that it is important to decide on the meal. That is, whether it is breakfast, brunch, lunch or diner. Or in the case of Las Vegas late night dining. Yes, there are some specific recommendations for late night dining. Las Vegas is after all a city that never sleeps.

After Spaswinefood consulted the diners online lists we decided on Roy's Las Vegas for dinner. Roy's offers Asian Fusion cuisine and got top billing on a number of lists. In fact, it was number one on Yelp the evening we visited. I can honestly say Roy's Las Vegas at 620 East Flamingo Road lived up to the reviews.
Roy's Las Vegas has a great wine list. That evening we selected a Casa Lapostelle Rapel Valley, Camenere 2009 wine.

We enjoyed the Casa Lapostelle Rapel Valley, Camenere 2009. This is not surprising because this wine gets great reviews.
We started dinner with salads.

For entrées we ordered a vegetarian plate and a fish dish.

We shared a chocolate desert.

We had excellent food and service at Roy's Las Vegas. There was a problem with one of our entrees the waitress recognized it immediately and it was corrected. The manager came later to check that everything was o.k. These are hallmarks of a first rate restaurant. For the latest reviews on Roy's Las Vegas see OpenTable, Tripadvisor, Urbanspoon and Yelp.
Other dining successes in Las Vegas
On a prior occasion we used the culinary expert online sources to help us make a decision on breakfast. We decided we were not interested in a buffet. If you are interested in buffet there are actually online discussions on some lists on the best buffets in Las Vegas. In the end we decided on the Bouchon Bistro at the Venetian for breakfast (as described in this article).

More recently I had a wonderful lunch with a friend at Wynn's Country Club.

My overall suggestion is to use the above online sources but, also know what your dining needs are. With a little research you can improve your odds of having a great dining experience in Las Vegas. Las Vegas has so many great restaurants and there are new restaurants opening all the time. I invite you to join me in my travels in Las Vegas and elsewhere in search of the best in Spaswinefood.
