Chateau Davell Boutique Winery, El Dorado Wine Country

Chateau Davell Boutique Winery may be the only green winery in El Dorado Wine Country. In fact the Mountain Democrat described Chateau Davell, as the only winery in El Dorado County that practices organic and biodynamic farming.  Recently Spaswinefood dropped by Chateau Davell Boutique Winery tasting room for a wine tasting. Chateau Davell Boutique Winery tasting room offers for tasting wines from their family owned boutique winery with a focus on local and green. Their wines are hand crafted in small case lots, using old world techniques.  Most of their grapes comes from their  El Dorado County organic vineyard and farm in the Sierra Foothills. They also use biodynamically grown grapes, such as those from Oak Knoll, Napa Valley.

Each wine I tasted had the name of family member, which was artistically represented on the wine label. Here are Chateau Davell wines that I tasted:

1. Chloe Reserve Chardonnay, Oak Knoll, Napa Valley 2011.

2. Zander Zinfandel, El Dorado, 2011.

The wines tasted were all very pleasing on the palate and well made. My favorites were their Chloe Reserve Chardonnay 2011 and Charlotte's Cuvée 2010. Salmon Fishing Queen blog writes about a visit to the tasting room. You can check some Chateau Davell wine reviews on CellerTracker. Reviews of the winery can also be found on Yelp.

El Dorado County Wineries in Sierra Foothills Wine Country
Should your travels take you to the Sierra Foothills put Chateau Davell Winery at 3550 Carson Road, Camino on your list. You can also check out other Sierra Foothills wineries, which are found in the counties of Amador, Calaveras and El Dorado. Sierra Foothills American Viticultural Area has 1,700 acres of its 2,700 acres planted with Zinfandel, with the remainder being mainly Rhone and Italian varietals. There are numerous grape varieties grown throughout El Dorado Wine Country. El Dorado Wine Country with its spectacular scenery, historic towns and friendly tasting rooms offers the perfect wine country experience in the Sierra Foothills. Even though El Dorado County is one of the oldest wine making areas in California, the El Dorado County American Viticultural Area (AVA) was not established until 1983. El Dorado Visitors Authority notes there are now over 60 wineries

I invite you to join me in my travels in beautiful El Dorado Wine Country, California and elsewhere in search for the best in Spaswinefood, or visit my travel column at the Examiner
