Our Moroccan journey started in Casablanca

After spending time in Rioja, Spain we return to Madrid to begin our Moroccan travels. Our Royal Air Morac flight stopped in Tangiers. There is a quick refueling stop and we are onto Casablanca, one of the largest and most important cities in Africa. Our two week journey through Morocco began in Casablanca. Upon arrival and a quick orientation to new signage (Arabic, French and) we cleared immigration and customs for entry into Morroco. We waited at the airport exit but our pre-arranged transportation did not show up. Then it was onto plan B where we followed the directions to get a taxi to our hotel.

Casablanca Arrival Soon we were traveling through countryside fields and then onto Casablanca's busy streets. Thirty minutes later we checked into our hotel, Hotel Moroccan House. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the suite we were given. We did not anticipate this level of comfort for the rest of our journey through Morocco.

After settling into our rather large room we grabbed a quick dinner at the La Roma restaurant across the street from our hotel. The kebab and vegetarian pizza was a humble beginning to our two week Spaswinefood adventure in Morocco.

I suspect when most people think of Morocco they immediately think of the movie Casablanca. Yes, some members in our group dropped by Rick's Bar. I did manage to get a glimpse of Rick's when we left Casablanca next morning. Yes, Rick's is still there amid this big city.

The Early Morning Sounds
Our first morning in Morocco we were awakened by the sounds signaling the start of a new day in Casablanca. Casablanca is a very busy city.

Moroccan Exploration Begins
After a quick breakfast at our hotel we were off to explore this amazing country.

Before we left Casablanca we stopped at Hassan II Mosque, the top tourist attraction in Casablanca.

While touring the mosque I could not resist having a photo taken.

The mosque has amazing architecture that no camera can truly do justice to capturing. It is without doubt that the hamman in the mosque's basement got my attention. This public hamman has its own separate entrance. There was no chance of trying out the hamman, as it has yet to open for service.
