Lunch with organic food and wine at the Native Foods Café

Summertime in Oregon is a great time to check out new Spaswinefood experiences. Oregon's Willamette Valley has many great restaurants and wine however, sometimes a restaurant offers a unique dining experience. During a July visit to Portland area we decided to have lunch at the Native Foods Café in Tigard. This vegan restaurant not only serves organic food and wine it gets good reviews. I was initially attracted to the restaurant because of its menu. When we arrived I discovered that the restaurant also has organic wine on its menu. To discover a vegetarian restaurant that includes both organic food and wine on its menu was indeed a pleasant surprise.

Given that we are #winelovers we were happy to try a wine from their list of organic wines. The wine we selected was a Cooper Hill Pinot Noir 2013 from Cooper Mountain Vineyards. Cooper Mountain Vineyards was one of the first vineyards in the Pacific Northwest to earn both organic and biodynamic certification. They began in 1978 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and have since added three more grape varietals (Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Tocai Friulano). All five grape varietals are sustainably farmed (organic and biodynamic) using dry farming.

This Pinot Noir 2013 has been described as Cooper Mountain Vineyards " bread and butter" wine. Overall this is a good wine and also reasonably priced.

We began lunch with a plate of spring rolls.

Our lunch choices were Chili and a Salad.

Our lunch was quite tasty and the service was good. This organic, vegetarian restaurant certainly lived up to its great reviews (see Tripadvisor, Urbanspoon and Yelp). It was also exciting to discover that a vegetarian restaurant that not only offers organic food but organic wine.

Our lunch at Native Foods Café was a great opportunity to discover this great vegan restaurant. It was also a great opportunity to sample some Cooper Mountain Vineyard wine over lunch. During a Willamette Valley Wine Country travels you will find that there are so many wonderful Willamette Valley wineries to visit. Here is a list of Willamette Valley wineries. The Oregon Wine Board provides a list of Oregon wine regions. I invite you to join me in my travels in Oregon and elsewhere in search of the best in Spaswinefood. You may also visit my travel column at the Examiner.
