#Winelover time at the Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro, Athens

Looking for a little wine bar magic in Athens, Greece then put Vintage on your list. Here's why. This Athens wine bar is an ideal place to sample from a wide range of Greek wines. After a morning walking tour of Central Athens we dropped by the Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro. In fact part of what made our #winelover 4th anniversary celebrations in Athens so special was the Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro. I am happy to say that our program included two visits to the Vintage Bar and Bistro.

Given that Vintage is a combination of a wine bar and a bistro, this makes it ideal for exploring wine and food. The first time we did a wine and cheese tasting. Later that evening we returned for dinner. Let's a peek.

Wine and Cheese Time
The Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro is one of the best Athens wine bars to checkout both Greek wine and Greek cheeses. We tasted Greek wines paired with artisanal cheeses from Orizontes.

These Greek cheeses were fabulous. Whenever I get the opportunity I so love discovering new cheeses. The cheeses we tasted included:

1. Geremezi
2. Manouri Aeros
3. Frangosyriani
4. Graver Kritis
5. Metsovone
6. Ladotiri Zakynthov

We sampled these Greek wines:
1. Malvasia
2. Malagousia
3. Moskofilero
4. Agiorgitiko
5. Mavrodaphne

After a most delightful cheese and wine tasting it was time to walk back to our hotel. Yes, we even stopped for a tour of a coffee shop on our walk back.

After a quick stop at the coffee shop we returned to our hotel for a little down time. Soon we were off to dinner.

When we returned to the Vintage for dinner we sampled more Greek wines. This time I managed to get specific details on each wine we tasted.

Overall, what a fabulous lineup of Greek wines we were served that evening. Thanks to a #winelover friend I also got to taste Domaine Economou Oikonomoy, PGI  Liatiko, Crete 1999 as well. It is wines like Oikonomoy that make you want to visit Crete.

Wherever #winelovers dine the staff can not help but get involved in our discussions. Special thanks to the staff and Vintage's owner for being such wonderful hosts. Vintage offers 250 labels, with 150 being Greek wines. Like many wine bars these days Vintage wine is also available by the glass. However, the wine bar uses the Coravin method to pour the wine without removing the cork. This ensures that the quality of the wine is maintained.

I was not surprised to find Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro on a number of lists for top wine bars in Athens. It was indeed a great day for #winelovers in Athens.

Yes, you too can discover that special #winelover magic in Athens. Sure, while you are in Athens checkout the ruins but also while you are doing so, do not forget to also make it a wine and food adventure. Checkout the local wine bars.
