A #winelover evening in Bucharest with Liliac and Casa de Vinuri Cotnari wines

Romania's capital, Bucharest, is a fun city to explore wines, which is good news for #winelover adventurers in Southern Romania. Moreover, they will also discover that all wine country roads lead back to Bucharest. After a day touring Dealu Mare wineries, Prahova County, we returned to Bucharest for dinner at La Mama Ateneu. Over dinner that evening we were introduced to two wineries, Liliac and Casa de Vinuri Cotnari. Without doubt an evening in Bucharest with Liliac Winery and Casa de Vinuri Cotnari wines is an evening to remember.

While we enjoyed dinner at La Mama Ateneu, it was the perfect setting for wine conversations with friends.

I had encountered Liliac wines before however, this was my first time tasting Casa de Vinuri Cotnari wines. Let's take a closer look at these wines.

Liliac Winery
Transylvania's Liliac Winery is located in Batos in the Lechinta Wine Region. The wines are made with Romanian grapes under the expertise of Austrian Rodoff Krizan. The Romanian word liliac means bat or flittermouse. The winery's colorful wine labels typically have a bat included in the design.

Without doubt the wine label design for their rosé wine is stunning. It reminds me of the children's story Stellaluna.

Casa de Vinuri Cotnari
Casa de Vinuri Cotnari is a wine house in northeastern Romania. The producer is located in Cotnari, Moldova. I tasted from two of their wine series (Casa de Vinuri Cotnari, Colocviu series and Cotnari Domenii series).

The last wine of the evening was a delightful Cotnari Domenii red wine.

After a delightful evening with #winelover friends we returned to our Bucharest hotel. It was indeed a beautiful evening in Bucharest. I could not resist taking a picture from our hotel room window, which just happened to overlook Cercul Military National, an historical and architectural monument
