Thanksgiving at the Boardwalk Restaurant, Lund: Gateway to Desolation Sound

This last two months I have had a pleasant stay on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. My Canadian travels have allowed me to explore a little while starting up a new blog, Spaswinefood. I have totally enjoyed the process of creating Spaswinefood.

Now I find myself ready to return to California and then onto Central America. My December 2nd departure leaves me looking for somewhere on the Sunshine Coast to celebrate Thanksgiving. Yes I did read November/December issue of Vegetarian Times, which featured a wonderful Thanksgiving menu from the chef and staff at Greens Restaurant in San Francisco. Then after seeing an advertisement in a local paper for US Thanksgiving at the Boardwalk Restaurant in Lund, I decided to give them a call.  I made a reservation for a vegetarian dinner at the Boardwalk.

Lund is the beginning of  the Pacific Coastal Highway, which ends in Quellón, Chile (15, 200 km. away). Lund is also the gateway to Desolation Sound Marine Park. Needless to say it is a scenic place to dine.

They were serving a set menu for US Thanksgiving or you could order off the menu.  I decided to order the vegetarian variation of the set menu. The set menu included the following:

I happy to say I had a scenic Thanksgiving dinner at the Boardwalk Restaurant. Just maybe next year it will be Quellón, Chile. Just got to return to those wonderful Chilean wineries soon. I invite you to join me in my travels in British Columbia and elsewhere at Spaswinefood, or you can visit my travel column at the Examiner
