Antigua, Guatemala Market (El Mercado)

No visit to Antigua is completed without a visit to El Mercado. The market (El Mercado) in Antigua, Guatemala is one of the most colorful markets in the world. While you can buy almost anything at the market we like to go there to buy fruits, vegetables and flowers.

The market is open seven days a week but, our favorite market day is Thursday. Thursday is good day because the market is all stocked up for the weekend but is less crowded. I will now take you on one of our Thursday's trip to Antigua's  Market.

We walk through Antigua to the westside of town where the market is located.

After entering the market we walk past the stalls selling clothing and household goods to the fruit section at the back of the market. Here we start our fruit purchases.
