spaswinefood: Antigua, Guatemala's more elegant spas

Most of the spas in Antigua are in modest settings. In recent years I have seen a growth in day spas (as described in an earlier post). It is only recently however, that I have started to see spa services in more elegant settings.

If you are looking for something more elegant than the average Antigua spa services, then you might consider checking out the Ceiba Spa, Finca Filadelphia Spa, or Casa Madeleine Spa.

Ceiba Porta Spa at Porta Hotel Antigua signals the arrival of full service spas in Antigua. Hotel Antigua is one of the oldest high end hotels is Antigua. The hotel covers over a city block. Inside the walls you will find one of finest hotels in Antigua.

When you enter the hotel at the main entrance your first glimpse is of a beautiful fountain.

When I visited the hotel directions to the Spa were not posted so I had to ask. When I did ask I was taken to the spa. The spa is located past the restaurant not far from the pool area.

Hotel Antigua's addition of the Ceiba Spa has positioned the hotel to offer first class spa services (as posted at its website). The spa has four spacious treatment rooms. One of these treatment rooms is a large treatment room for couples. There is also a relaxation area within the spa. The spa is available to both hotel guests and non-guest. Non-guests can also buy day passes for use of Hotel Antigua's suana, gym and pool.

Hotel Antigua has a beautiful pool area. It is a very pleasant area to relax.

If you are looking to spend a day at the spa, this is the place. Tripadvisor reviewers give Porta Hotel Antigua great overall reviews.

Finca Filadelfia Coffee Resort and Spa is a luxury resort near Antigua. Reviews of Finca Fidadelfia Coffee Resort and Spa give it high marks. If you are looking for a luxury resort then you might like to know it is listed at Hotels of the Rich and Famous. For its guests it offers use of jacuzzi, pool and gym. It also provides massage service at extra costs.

Casa Madeleine Bed and Breakfast and Spa is a small boutique hotel with spa services. The spa services are available to both guests and non-guests. Reviews of the hotel are very good. Both John and I visited the spa to check out the services. We both selected 90 minute massages. We had the same massage therapist. Our massages were excellent.

For a fee non-hotel guests can use the sauna and jucuzzi.

Given that it is a small boutique hotel there is one spa treatment room. They can however accommodate couples in the treatment room.

Overall, Casa Madeleine's spa is good value for the money.

Casa Santo Domingo Hotel is finally adding a spa. Casa Santo Domingo gets great reviews overall.

Given Casa Santo Domingo's beautiful setting I can not wait to see the spa when completed. It appears that they are aiming for the most beautiful spa in town.
