Best Los Gatos restaurants for lunch

Returning to the Silicon Valley Spaswinefood got to re-discover/discover some wonderful places for lunch. June through July I dined at a number of Los Gatos restaurants. Based on these experiences Spaswinefood has picked three restaurants just perfect for lunch. They are Nicks on Main, Opa and the Wine Cellar Restaurant.  What is in common to all three is great food, service and an inviting setting. All of this at a good price makes these restaurants ideal for that special lunch.

Nick's on Main
Nick's on Main  35 East Main Street is an American style bistro. Chef Nick Difu has created a casual restaurant with refined elegance that works magic with local followers.

When I visited the restaurant in June I ordered the Vegetarian Sandwich based on the waiter's recommendation. Before the sandwich arrived they served a basket of bread with a dipping sauce.

The sandwich came with great pomme frites (french fries) and a small green salad.

Lunch was great. It was the best vegetarian sandwich yet!  The waiter was right. The food was so good I wanted to return and did. On the second visit I returned with John; we took more time for lunch than I did on my first visit. We started with 2002 Royal Cuvée Brut, Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards, Sonoma County.

For entrées John ordered a salad and I ordered the Vegetarian Sandwich again.

John's salad was great. My sandwich was just as tasty as the sandwich that I had on my first visit. This time however the ingredients had changed slightly. It is great when a chef experiments a little with the ingredients.

We shared a great chocolate dessert.

I remembered my first visit the bill came in a cookbook, which I thought was a nice touch. This time I remembered to take a photo when they brought the bill. I think this is a classy way to present the bill. I need to revisit  another time to check out dinner. I can see why Nick's on Main gets loyal followers.

Of course any time you drop by the restaurant you can check the menu on the table outside. This allows you to see if there is anything of interest that day.
You can check reviews at TripadvisorUrbanspoonYelp and Nick's press page.

Wine Cellar Restaurant
Spaswinefood dropped by the Wine Cellar Restaurant 50 University Avenue in Old Town for lunch a number of times.  Wine Cellar founded in 1966 is one of the original restaurants in Old Town. Executive Chef  Wayne Hashman's extensive culinary experience is reflected in the range of menu offerings at the Wine Cellar.

It was a nice sunny day when I dropped by the Wine Cellar for lunch on June 27.  It was a beautiful day so I dined outside under the large oak trees. Wine Cellar is one of the few restaurants in Los Gatos with outside seating.

For lunch I ordered a Portobello Sandwich. It came with a side salad and fries.

I visited the Wine Cellar in July with my friend Pummy. She ordered Fish and Chips.

Both Wine Cellar visits were great lunch experiences. You can check reviews at Citysearch, OpenTable, Tripadvisor, Urbanspoon and Yelp.

Opa
Opa Restaurant 27 North Santa Cruz is one of a number Opa restaurants in the Silicon Valley. It  was our choice on July 12th when I joined two girl  friends for lunch. This restaurant is perfect if you are looking for  authentic Greek cuisine.

We ordered some pita bread with a dip for an appetizer.

We selected three different entrees. I ordered a Opa Saute with Vegetarian Souvlaki.
