During June and August visits to Paso Robles Wine Country Spaswinefood visited Opolo Winery. In June when we drove by Opolo Vineyards. Opolo's setting is picture perfect, with stunning oak trees dotting the rolling landscape. We were intrigued by the name and the landscape; so we drove into the winery to check it out.

Opolo Vineyards 7110 Vineyard Drive is a popular winery with an expansive vineyard setting. Above the vineyards you will find the Opolo Inn offering luxury accommodations. This winery is noted for its excellent customer service and year round events.

When we dropped by in June the tasting room was quite busy so we decided to return at another time.

We took a late lunch that day at Thomas Hill Organics. We decided to try Opolo's 2009 Mountain Zinfandel. We were not disappointed. We liked it.

During our August visit we made a point to visit Opolo. We had hoped to taste their wines and have lunch.

We tasted their 2010 Albarino, 2009 Viognier, 2008 Grenache, 2009 Sangiovese, 2006 Fusion (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sarah), 2008 Serenade (50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Malbec), 2006 Petit Verdot and finished with a side by side taste of 2009 Summit Creek Zinfandel and 2009 Mountain Zinfandel.

We especially liked their 2008 Serenade and 2006 Fusion and the two 2009 Zinfandels that we tasted. Opolo's 2006 Verdot, 2008 Zinfandel and 2009 Zinfandel both won Silver Medals at the Central Coast Wine Competition, with 2009 Mountain Zinfandel also receiving a Silver Medal in 2011 from the San Francisco Chronicle.
