The best of fine dining at the Mimolett Restaurant,Istanbul

While in Istanbul Spaswinefood had the wonderful opportunity to dine at the Mimolett Restaurant. Spaswinefood would describe the Mimolett as an Istanbul gastronomic delight. Mimolett's Chef Murat Bozok specializes in preparing Meditterenean cuisine. We arrived in Turkey prior to EWBC Digital Communications Conference 2012, which was held recently in Izmir, Turkey. After two weeks of travel through Turkey we returned to Istanbul to take part in a number of #EWBC pre-conference activities (a visit to four Thrace wineries and two pre-conference dinners). The first dinner was held at the Mimolett Restaurant.

During the EWBC 2012 Istanbul Welcome Dinner at the Mimolette wine bloggers got to try wines produced by three Turkish wineries, which was paired with various dishes prepared by Chef Murat Bozok. The featured wineries for the evening included ChamlijaKayra and Vinkara. Our dinner menu  included the following:

Welcome Drink
Vinkara's Yaşasin Kalecik Karasi 2010 from Kalecik, Ankara

First Course: Scallop (Sauteed Scallop, pea velouté with sage, sour apple and roasted hazelnut)
The Scallop was paired with Kayra Terra Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Denizli, Aegean.

Second Course: Salmon (Salmon, Bulgar Salad with Lemon Raki purée)
The second course was paired with Chamlija's Chadonnay Istranca 2011 from Strandja, Thrace.

Third Course: Rib-Eye (Grilled Aged Ribeye Steak, potato pure with truffle oil, onions cooked in veal glace and mushrooms)
The Rib-eye was paired with the following wines:
(1)Vinkara's Doruk Öküzgözü (from Kalecik, Ankara) & Boğazkere (from Cermik, Diyarbakir),
(2) Kayra's Kayra Vintage Boğazkere, from Diyarbakir, Eastern Anatolia.

Dining at Mimolett was a great first introduction to the wines of Turkey by the three participating wineries. Wines at the dinner that were new to me, were Kaleck Karasi, Öküzgözü and Boğazkere.
