Wine bloggers check out the best of dining at Frankie Restaurant, Istanbul

Frankie Restaurant, Istanbul is a great place for wine lovers to check out winefood and music. EWBC wine bloggers dined at Frankie's Restaurant, prior to the Digital Communications Conference 2012 in Izmir, Turkey. A number of #EWBC pre-conference activities included dining out in Istanbul and visiting Thrace wineries.  Frankie Istanbul is located in the Sofa Hotel, a trendy fashion and art district of Istanbul.

During the EWBC 2012 Istanbul Welcome Dinner at Frankie Istanbul we got to try wines produced by three Turkish wineries paired with various dishes. The featured wineries for the evening included Chamlija, Kayra and Vinkara. Our menu for the evening included the following:

Welcome Drink
Kayra's Cameo D'oro, a blend of Bornova Misketi, Chadonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, which comes from the Aegean wine region.

Without doubt our dinner at Frankie was a successful introduction to Turkish wines and wonderful cuisine.

This was Spaswinefood's second introduction to some great Turkish wines produced by the three participating wineries (ChamlijaKayra and Vinkara). Earlier when we dined at Mimolett I got to try Öküzgözü, Boğazkere and Kalecik Karasi sparkling wine. This time however, at Frankie's Restaurant, both the Kalecik Karasi Rose, non-sparkling Kalecik Karasi and Narince were new wines for me.  Both dinners were a great introduction to exciting Turkish wines. Little did I know that, by the time I would leave Turkey, wines like, Öküzgözü, Boğazkere, Kalecik Karasi and Narince would become part of my wine vocabulary. To add to that Chamlija Winery does make some great some great Chardonnay,Viognier and Pinot Noir. I also love Chamlija's wine labels.
