It was indeed a beautiful
day when Spaswinefood dropped by the
Asara Wine Estate and Hotel in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The stunning Asara Wine Estate is situated amid spectacular views of vineyards and mountains in the Stellenbosch wine region, one of the world’s top wine regions (Wine Enthusiast). The name Asara derived from the African gods of Earth (Atar), Sun (Asis) and Sky (Asase) certainly captures the essence of this special place. We were so delighted to have discovered the Asara Wine Estate during our South African wine country travels. This beautiful wine estate was truly the most perfect setting for a wine tasting and lunch.

Estate has a winemaking heritage dating back to 1691 (see history). Today the wine estate offers a wide range of award winning wines,
including the first ever white Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine production on the estate includes 75 % red wines and 25% white wines.

Jo Kromberg describes the Asara Wine Estate and Hotel. For a visual overview of Asara see this
video. In addition to Asara being a wine estate it provides luxury accommodations and a number of dining and
wine tasting options. The day we visited Asara we ate lunch at the
Sansibar Restaurant. The Sansibar Restaurant, with its awesome views of the vineyards and the mountains, is an ideal setting for a wine country lunch.

For lunch that day we decided to order two different Asara wine flights. This was a great way to sample Asara's wines while dining. For those #winelovers wishing to only check out the wines Asara has tasting center.
